CHEMICAL NAME CLOBETASOL.
INDICATIONS Clobetasol is a corticosteroid that treats swelling, redness and itching. It is used for various scalp conditions. This drug may also be used for certain skin conditions.
DIRECTIONS Apply a small amount and gently rub into the affected area. Generally this medicine is used in the morning and at night. Follow all instructions carefully and do not use this product more often or longer than prescribed an increase in side effects could occur. The usual recommended treatment period is two weeks. Do not bandage, wrap or cover the area treated unless you are instructed to do so by your doctor. You should notice improvement within one week. MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, use it as soon as remembered do not use if it is almost time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up.
SIDE EFFECTS Burning, stinging or a form of acne might occur. If these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor. Unlikely but report promptly: rash, itching. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS Tell your doctor your medical history, including: any allergies, scalp/skin infections. Do not get this medicine in your eye. If you do, flush it immediately with a large amount of water. Though very unlikely, it is possible this medication will be absorbed into your bloodstream. This may have undesirable consequences that may require additional corticosteroid treatment. This is especially true for children and for those who have used this for an extended period of time and if they also have serious medical problems such as serious infections, injuries or surgeries. This precaution applies for up to one year after stopping use of this drug. Tell your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur: vision problems, persistent headache, increased thirst or urination, unusual weakness or weight loss, dizziness. Consult your doctor or pharmacist for more details, and inform them that you use (or have used) this medication. This medication should be used during pregnancy only when clearly needed. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. It is not known whether this drug is excreted into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding. This drug is not recommended for use in children under 12 years of age. Children may be more sensitive to drug side effects with prolonged use, including growth patterns. Consult your doctor.
OVERDOSAGE If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. This medicine may be harmful if swallowed.
INFORMATION Do not share this medication with others. Store at room temperature 59 to 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from sunlight or as directed on the label. Avoid freezing. Keep out of the reach of children.
