INDICATIONS
KETOCONAZOLE is an antifungal type of antibiotic. It treats fungal infections such as ringworm of the body (tinea corporis), ringworm of the groin (tinea cruris or jock itch), sun fungus (tinea versicolor, pityriasis versicolor), and dandruff.
DIRECTIONS
Ketoconazole skin cream is for external use only. Follow the directions on the prescription label. Wash your hands before and after use (do not wash them after use if you are treating hand or nail infections). Apply a thin layer of cream to cover the affected skin and surrounding area. You can cover the area with a sterile gauze dressing (bandage) do not use an airtight bandage (such as a plastic-covered bandage). Finish the full course prescribed by your prescriber or health care professional even if you think your condition is better. Do not stop using except on your prescriber's advice. Contact your pediatrician or health care professional regarding the use of this medicine in children. Special care may be needed.
MISSED DOSE:If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you can. If it is almost time for your next dose, use only that dose. Do not use double or extra doses.
SIDE EFFECTS
Ketoconazole may cause burning, stinging or redness when first applied to the skin. This should disappear in a few days as your body adjusts to the medication. If these effects persist or worsen, inform your doctor. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS
Be sure your doctor knows your medical history, especially of: allergies. This medication should be used cautiously during pregnancy only if clearly needed. This medication may appear in breast milk. Consult with your doctor before breast-feeding. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant before using this cream.
OVERDOSAGE
If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. This medicine may be harmful if swallowed.
INFORMATION
Do not use it for another infection or share it with someone else. Store cream at room temperature. Keep away from moisture and sunlight. Do not freeze. Keep out of the reach of children.
