CHEMICAL NAME PANCRELIPASE.
INDICATIONS Pancrease(Pancrelipase) is a pancreatic enzyme combination used to improve food digestion in patients who do not produce enough enzymes on their own as a result of disease, surgery, or other conditions. It may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.
DIRECTIONS Follow the directions for using Pancrease(Pancrelipase) provided by your doctor. Swallow whole. Do not crush or chew before swallowing. If you have difficulty swallowing the Pancrease(Pancrelipase)capsule, the contents may be sprinkled on soft foods that do not require chewing such as applesauce or gelatin. After mixing, eat the food and swallow immediately. Follow the dose with a glass of water or juice. Take this medicine with a meal or snack. Drink plenty of fluids while taking this medicine. Store this medicine at room temperature in a tightly-closed container, away from heat, moisture, and light. MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose of this medicine, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.
SIDE EFFECTS Generally Pancrease(Pancrelipase) is very well tolerated and side effects are mild if they occur. Diarrhea, cramping or stomach upset may occur when starting treatment. If these effects persist or worsen, inform your doctor. Although very unlikely to occur, notify your doctor if you develop: a skin rash, severe stomach distress. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS Do not take Pancrease(Pancrelipase) if you have had an allergic reaction to it, are allergic to pork protein, or to any other ingredient in this product. Do not change brands of this medicine without checking with your doctor. Keep all doctor and laboratory appointments while you are taking this medicine. Before you begin taking any new medicine, either prescription or over-the-counter, check with your doctor or pharmacist. For women: If you plan on becoming pregnant, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using this medicine during pregnancy. It is unknown if this medicine is excreted in breast milk. If you are or will be breast-feeding while you are using this medicine, check with your doctor or pharmacist to discuss the risks to your baby.
OVERDOSAGE If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
INFORMATION Follow the dietary plan provided by your doctor. Do not share this medicine with others for whom it was not prescribed. Do not use this medicine for other health conditions. Keep this medicine out of the reach of children. If using this medicine for an extended period of time, obtain refills before your supply runs out.
