CHEMICAL NAME CHLORPHENIRAMINE and PHENYLEPHRINE.
INDICATIONS Rynatan is an antihistamine and decongestant combination used to relieve congestion, sneezing, and watery eyes due to colds, flu, or hay fever. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.
DIRECTIONS Follow the directions for using Rynatan provided by your doctor or on the package. Do not exceed the recommended dose. Swallow whole. Do not break, crush, or chew before swallowing. Rynatan Pediatric Suspension may be taken with food if it upsets your stomach. Store this medicine at room temperature, away from heat and light. If you miss a dose of this medicine and you are using it regularly, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.
SIDE EFFECTS May cause drowsiness, dizziness, headache, loss of appetite, stomach upset, blurred vision, restlessness, irritability and dry mouth and nose. These effects should subside as your body adjusts to the medication. If they persist or become bothersome, inform your doctor. Notify your doctor if you develop: breathing difficulties, heart pounding, irregular heartbeat, chest pain, ringing in the ears, difficulty urinating. May cause dizziness especially when rising quickly from a seated or lying position. Change positions slowly and be careful on stairs. Use caution engaging in activities requiring alertness. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: asthma, glaucoma, ulcers, difficulty urinating due to an enlarged prostate gland, heart disease, high blood pressure, seizures, an overactive thyroid gland, any allergies (especially drug allergies). Do not drink alcoholic beverages. Do not give this medication to a child younger than six years of age unless directed to do so by a doctor. Caution is advised when using this drug in the elderly because they may be more sensitive to its side effects, especially dizziness and drowsiness. This drug should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
OVERDOSAGE If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include unusual drowsiness or dizziness, nausea, vomiting, fast or irregular heartbeat, fever, sweating, hallucinations, tremors, seizures, or trouble breathing.
INFORMATION Do not share this medicine with others for whom it was not prescribed. Do not use this medicine for other health conditions. Keep this medicine out of the reach of children and pets.

DRUG INTERACTIONS Tell your doctor what medications you take, especially of: high blood pressure drugs, anti-seizure drugs, antidepressants, sleeping pills, sedatives, tranquilizers, muscle relaxants, narcotic pain medication, other cold or allergy medication. Do not take this drug if you have taken an MAO inhibitor (e.g., furazolidone, linezolid, phenelzine, selegiline, tranylcypromine) within the last two weeks. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
