CHEMICAL NAME PHENYLEPHRINE, EPHEDRINE, CHLORPHENIRAMINE, and CARBETAPENTANE.
INDICATIONS Quad-Tuss Tannate is a decongestant, antihistamine, and cough suppressant combination used to treat cough and to relieve congestion, sneezing, and watery eyes due to colds, flu, or hay fever. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.
DIRECTIONS Follow the directions for using Quad-Tuss Tannate provided by your doctor or on the package. Do not exceed the recommended dose. Shake well before taking a dose. Use a measuring device marked for medicine dosing. Ask your pharmacist for help if you are unsure of how to measure this dose. This medicine may be taken with food if it upsets your stomach. Store this medicine at room temperature in a tightly-closed container, away from heat and light. MISSED DOSE:If you miss a dose of this medicine and you are using it regularly, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.
SIDE EFFECTS Dizziness, headache, loss of appetite, nausea or dry mouth may occur the first several days as your body adjusts to the medication. Flushing, sun sensitivity and nervousness may also occur. If any of these effects continue or become bothersome, inform your doctor. To avoid dizziness and lightheadedness when rising from a seated or lying position, get up slowly. Also limit your intake of alcoholic beverages which will aggravate these effects. Notify your doctor if you develop: chest pain, a rapid pulse, skin rash, high blood pressure, tremors, hallucinations. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS Tell your doctor if you have: kidney disease, heart disease, lung disease (e.g., asthma, emphysema), high blood pressure, an overactive thyroid, diabetes, glaucoma, prostate trouble, parkinsonism, myasthenia gravis, depression, allergies (especially drug allergies). This medication should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. Since small amounts of this medication are found in breast milk, consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
OVERDOSAGE If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include nausea, vomiting, irregular heartbeat, seizures, large pupils, dry mouth, hot and flushed skin, drowsiness, deep sleep or loss of consciousness, and slowed or rapid breathing.
INFORMATION If your symptoms do not improve within 7 days or if you develop a high fever or persistent headache, check with your doctor. Do not share this medicine with others for whom it was not prescribed. Do not use this medicine for other health conditions. Keep this medicine out of the reach of children and pets.

DRUG INTERACTIONS Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take, including: blood pressure drugs, antidepressants, sedatives, tranquilizers, sleeping pills, MAO inhibitors (e.g., linezolid, furazolidone, phenelzine, selegiline, tranylcypromine), narcotic pain medications (e.g., codeine). Limit your intake of alcoholic beverages while taking this medication. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
