This medicine is an antibiotic used to treat acne. It may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.
Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. Clean and dry the affected area. Cover the affected and surrounding area with a thin film of medicine. Store this medicine at room temperature in a tightly-closed container, away from heat and light. If you miss a dose of this medicine, use it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule.
A side effect, that may go away during treatment, is dry skin. If it continues or is bothersome, check with your doctor. Check with your doctor as soon as possible if you experience skin rash, swelling, redness, burning, or peeling of your skin, stomach pain, or diarrhea. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist.
Before using clindamycin, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it or to lincomycin or if you have any other allergies. Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of: chronic asthma or hay fever (atopic conditions), intestinal diseases (e.g., ulcerative colitis, enteritis). This medication should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. It is not known if the medication in this product passes into breast milk. While there have been no reports of harm to nursing infants, consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. This medicine may be harmful if swallowed.
Do not share this medicine with others for whom it was not prescribed. Do not use this medicine for other health conditions. Keep this medicine out of the reach of children. If using this medicine for an extended period of time, obtain refills before your supply runs out.
